The Clement Hugh Russell Smiles Initiative

Oral health is essential to overall health.Untreated dental conditions can lead to infections, long term complications and living a normal life. Yet for many families, access to care remains limited or unaffordable.
In many communities, dental clinics are hours away - or don't exist at all. Some children grow up without ever seeing a provider or learning proper oral hygiene. Many families often lack simple supplies like toothbrushes. Turning a simple problem to a serious one.
You can volunteer, donate, sponsor a patient, or partner with us. Every contribution - time, funding, or resources - directly supports hands on care and sustainable impact.
The Inspiration Behind the Mission

The life and legacy that inspired a global movement.

The Clement Hugh Russell Smiles Initiative was founded in memory of Clement Hugh Russell — a devoted dentist, builder, and community leader from Jamaica. In his hometown, he cared for neighbors, friends, and even strangers, often offering free dental treatment to those who could not afford it. Beyond dentistry, he was known for his kindness, generosity, and hospitality — whether cooking meals for neighbors or lending a helping hand.

Although not licensed to practice in the United States, Clement carried his passion for service throughout his life. He became a respected and loved figure in both Jamaica and Brooklyn, admired for his unwavering commitment to helping others.

Inspired by his example, the Clement Hugh Russell Smiles Initiative continues his legacy by providing free dental care, education, and support to underserved communities around the world — beginning with missions in Uganda and Jamaica.

A letter from our founder

This initiative was born from Legacy & Love

My grandfather was dear to me. He raised me. I admired him deeply, and so much of who I am was shaped by his presence in my life. I watched him serve his community without ego and without hesitation, caring for others simply because it was the right thing to do. To me, he was steady, strong, and generous- the kind of man whose impact went far beyond his profession. What he poured into his community, we will carry forward to others.
